Name: Patricia Nygaard
Occupation: Boss Hoe™ at Maganda Pa. I'm working to shift the focus of the Instagram vintage community away from whiteness and smallness by creating a safe space to shop that's inclusive of all femmes, especially WOC and plus size people.
What three words best describe your style?
1998, 2003, 2017
What is your favorite go-to look?
Rn I'm v about chic comfort, so anything that
a.) I don't have to wear a bra with
b.) isn't tight around my waist
c.) makes me look like a rich grandma/ 2000s prom queen
Who is your style icon?
What are your favorite places to shop/brands right now?
Almost everything in my current rotation is thrifted. Independent thrift stores always seem to be less expensive + have a more unique inventory than big chain stores like Goodwill/ Salvation Army. Vintage Liz Claiborne seriously always holds me down with the best high-waisted pants.
If you had the chance to fly anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probably New Orleans. I lived there over the summer working as a zoo keeper and I'm not done with that city yet. I hate leaving projects unfinished and in this case, leaving that city unfinished. New Orleans is a dream, the culture and sense of warmth there are so strong AND they have a radio station that plays exclusively Aaliyah era R&B so... that should speak for itself.
Favorite song and/or album at the moment?
I've just been alternating between playing Tru by Lloyd + Rodeo by Juvenile on repeat
What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?
Lately I've realized I don't really have any guilty pleasures. I'm working on owning every aspect of who I am/ what I enjoy + not giving other people the power to shame me for what I'm into. I'd say it's going p well so far. Some things that I lowkey luv indulging in are Craigslist apartment hunting for places I can't afford + buying huge plants when I'm having a bad day
What do you think about more than anything else?
The seasons changing has been making me super nostalgic, so lately I've been thinking a lot about self growth and the comparison between where I am now and where I was at this time in years passed. It makes me happy to think of all the positive changes I've made (i.e. Ridding my life of toxic relationships and mentalities, working on projects that make me happy, falling in luv) and I'm constantly thankful for the people who support me.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself being happy + at peace in an airy one bedroom with white walls, concrete floors, big windows, and lots of plants. Preferably financially secure with a cute dog. That'd be nice.
If you were a season, which would you be?
Definitely spring ♈️ it's my birthday season and it's when I'm the best version of myself. By the end of winter, I'm usually p mentally/ emotionally depleted and need that first warm day of spring to breathe some life into me again.
